Before delving into the nitty-gritty of the BookWidgets exercise creation tool, I'd like to start by defining diversification.
In my view (and this is just my humble opinion), diversification is a method of using a variety of pedagogical practices and resources, drawing on the paper/digital mix to learn in a more effective and engaging way. All to the benefit of enhanced comprehension and memorization.
With the advent of distance and hybrid teaching (or learning), this concept has become an educational imperative. Indeed, it's no coincidence that a plethora of tools for creating online exercises for learners have emerged.
Whether they're "open" or paid tools, most of them have a lot to offer. For my part, I've had the opportunity to test a number of them, notably as part of my search for complementary integrations to the itslearning platform. And fortunately, in the course of my long hours of testing and research, I came across BookWidgets. A tool that enables teachers to create interactive exercises and self-corrected tests in just a few minutes.
40 online exercise templates
I'll try to be brief but to the point. In my opinion, Bookwidgets' major strength lies in the wealth of exercises it offers. With its library of 40 ready-to-use templates, teachers are free to create personalized remediation plans based on interactive and engaging exercises.
In addition, the possibility of integrating it with LMSs such as itslearning facilitates synchronous and asynchronous collaboration and activity sharing.
How do I use BookWidgets in itslearning?
As I mentioned in the introduction to this article, the BookWidgets tool is an excellent complement to the itslearning platform when it comes to engaging learners.
Its integration into the ENT/LMS requires no more time than it takes you to read this blog post!
All you need is :
- Administrator access to the itslearning platform for setting parameters
- Teacher access for resource design
- A subscription to BookWidget (see price list). Note that the tool is eligible for the Manolo grant.
Here's also a step-by-step video tutorial for configuring and designing BookWidgets exercises in itslearning.

Following on from this article, you can watch or replay the webinar held on Tuesday April 11, during which BookWidgets expert Dimitri Bongers presented the tool and answered participants' questions. (in French)
